Haddie, a dog who was subjected to the cruel practice of dog fighting and had half of her face taken away, has finally found true love after being adopted. Her appearance has drastically changed due to her being viciously attacked by fighting dogs in an illegal activity.
Erin Williams, a resident of Washington, D.C., found Haddie, a dog with a unique appearance, on petfinder.com in August 2020. Haddie’s skin was in a deteriorated state, and she had to undergo treatment that resulted in the removal of much of her skin, leaving her with one eye. Despite this, Erin was drawn to Haddie’s distinctiveness and eventually adopted her. Now, Haddie has overcome her fear of other dogs and enjoys playing in their neighborhood park. Erin is thrilled that Haddie has become a true “dog’s dog.”
A kind-hearted individual saved Haddie from a dogfighting operation and brought her to Mutt Scouts in South California. The poor dog had suffered injuries all over, with her face being the most affected. A vet confirmed that the injuries and demeanor were consistent with her being used as a “bait dog.” It is possible that the fighting dogs were repeatedly trained by attacking Haddie. Erin noted that in such situations, all dogs are victims. Haddie and Erin became inseparable after Mutt Scouts matched them, bringing positive changes into their lives. Since Erin didn’t know Haddie’s true birthday, she picked January 19th, which is Dolly Parton’s birthday.
According to Erin, Haddie was initially described as a friendly and playful dog, but she had a fear of other dogs. Her body would tremble violently upon hearing or seeing another dog. To help Haddie overcome this deep-rooted phobia, Erin sought the assistance of a professional dog trainer. The process involved slowly introducing Haddie to other dogs while feeding her hot dogs and gradually getting closer until she associated dogs with safety and fun. Erin attributes Haddie’s success to her personality traits, including intelligence and resilience. Today, Haddie is a happy dog who enjoys playing with other dogs at the park and even does a cute little hop when she’s excited to go outside.
According to the narrator, Haddie is quite sociable and enjoys human interaction. Erin mentions that the dog loves it when people pet her ears. Although Haddie has some scars and requires medicinal sunscreen on her nose, she is still a regular dog with a unique appearance. People often notice her and ask questions, but Erin says the responses are mostly positive, which surprises her.
