The black-collar barbet (Lybius torquatus) is a bird measuring 20-25 cm long. They were first discovered with bristled feathers surrounding their bills, which were found to be hardened by a splash of vivid red that surrounded the base of the bill. These birds are commonly found in subtropical regions, where they inhabit dense forested areas. Unlike other barbets, this species does not exhibit dramatic differences between male and female individuals. This is almost non-phenotypic difference between both sexes.
